Fishing Report

July 15th, 2008

This weekend was very busy with the Whitlock Tourney. The fishing is still good in the A.M., the afternoon its gets pretty hot and the fishing slows quite a bit. Stove Creek and South to Suttons is very fast bite with lost of little fish in the 15 to 30ft range. The Whitlock flats are on a good plug bite in that 30ft to 40ft with lots of walleyes and a few salmon being caught.

This holiday weekend the fishing is still good. The size of fish are getting a little smaller, but they are still on the bite. Lots of  crawlers are being used still some minnows. There is a good crank bite on in Willow Flats. The bite has also been good from Sutton Bay to Bush's .

This week fishing is still good with lots of fish being caught up the the shallow water 5-8 ft. minnows and crawlers are working the best. The west Whitlock flat to Dodge Draw is holding a lot of fish both sides of the river. Stove Creek to Suttonbay hasn't seen much pressure with most anglers going north.

This week has slowed a little because of all the rain the lake has come up 4ft. This week lots of 15" to 18" fish are being caught from Bushes Landing to Akaska. They are biting on crawlers and minnows, also some reporting on leeches. Sunday  was the best day  for the week we had 9 "overs" and lots of 16" to 17" caught up in the Dodge Draw Area.

This week was great - tons of fish all sizes 15" - 25" even one "thirty incher" on Wednesday. The Swift Bird area has really turned on, fish being caught in that 8 to 12 ft. range and some deeper later in the day. The fish are still biting on the Whitlock rocks also with lots of limits being caught in a couple of hours. Most fish are being taken on minnows and crawlers, a few on leeches, just getting better and better as things warm up.

A good number of fish over 20" are being caught in the rocks by East Whitlock. We caught and released the biggest fish of the year so far 28 1/2 ". The smaller fish are starting to show up but most of them still remain out in 44 ft. of water. Jigs tipped with a minnow and also a crank baits are working the best. The weather has been a factor with huge winds, as soon as it slows down the fish will bust loose any day.
